In 1897, German Friedrich Arnold published his “Die Vögel Europas (The Birds of Europe)”.
It gives a full account on the breeding, hunting methods, domestication and care on many of the European bird species as ways to catch them and how they.
The book start with 449 pages of text accompanied by b/w illustration. At the end there are 48 full-colour chromolithographic plates of which some are signed by August Specht.
The book (29x22cm) doesn’t have the original pictural cover but was rebound in plain green cloth at some point in time. The cover is not in very good condition, but the binding and inside of the book are very good with no foxing. All 48 plates are clean and present. Please see photos for more detail.
