Ardbeg Smoketrails - Islay whisky matured in a manzanilla sherry cask

The Ardbeg Smoketrails Manzanilla Edition is a limited special bottling for travel retail.
It was only available to buy regularly in duty free stores for the 2022 release.
It has spent its cask maturation in classic Ardbeg American oak casks and Manzanilla sherry casks.
The cult distillery has bottled the single malt whisky in the distillery's unusual liter bottle at 46.0% .
The Scotch also impresses with its natural color. It has not been chill-filtered.

Nosing:
The Scotch hits the nose with a spicy aroma. The Islay whisky also smells of tar and pine resin. Saddle soap comes through, while Brazil nuts, herbs and peat bog are present. This is followed by maritime impressions and chocolate.

Tasting:
The Ardbeg Smoketrails for Travel Retail is dry on the tongue. It tastes spicy and hot. Tar and soot lie behind it. Dark chocolate is layered over Brazil nuts and hazelnuts.

Finish:
The finish is long-lasting. The Manzanilla Edition ends with notes of fennel and pine. Carbolic soap, aniseed and leather linger after drinking.
