Remarkable and very large bronze 4-tiered trumpet vase intricately designed with a motif of tumultuous waves.
It's crafted to give the impression that the trumpet-shaped chalice, is engulfed by outward expanding layers of waves rising upwards from the sides. It captures the essence of a turbulent sea with splashes, churns, and swirls.
Cast in bronze with a deep brown patina with a good aged appeal.
Period: Japan – Early Meiji period (Second half 19th century).
Dimensions:
Height 37.3 cm, Diameter 44.5 cm, Diameter mouth vase 34.3 cm.
Weight 28.0 kg.
Considering its age, in a very good condition with a few oxidation spots. One loose point (included), and a restored point. Please have a look at the photos for a clear condition reference.
