Artist: Tanomura Chokunyu田能村直入 (1814-1907) was a famous 19th century Japanese literator painter known as "小虎kotora". He was born in Oitaken.
In the early days, he became the adopted son of the famous painter Chikuden, who inherited his art skills. In 1835, he became a teacher of 300 people and became famous all over the world. In 1896, he and the famous painter Fukuoka founded the Japanese Nanga Association.
In 1899, at the age of 86, he became the director of the Shishirin Temple in Japan and died in 1907 at the age of 95.
Many museums around the world have his works, such as the Seattle Art Museum in the United States.

In 1921, he co-founded the Japanese Nanga Academy, and together with painters Yamada Kaido and Ikeda Keisen, he is known as the three elders of the Kyoto Nanga painting circle.
The signature of the wooden box was written by the artist Tajika Chikuson.
