Antiquarian book set, Christian faith. This is the seminal work by Nathanial Lardner titled 'A Large Collection of Ancient Jewish and Heathen Testimonies to the Truth of the Christian Religion'. The set was published in 1764 by J. Buckland, T. Longman, and J. Waugh, London. The books are tight, complete and with some wear and scuffing to the covers which are leather bound hardback, most notably the text is generally in exceptional condition for books of 260 years old.
This is a first edition of this important work, included are volumes I, II and IV of the four volume set.
Volume III can be supplied in PDF format.
Nathaniel Lardner (6 June 1684 – 24 July 1768) was an English Presbyterian minister and theologian, in this seminal work Nathaniel Lardner compiles a comprehensive array of evidence from Jewish and pagan sources that attest to the truth of Christianity. Drawing on his extensive knowledge of ancient texts and languages, Lardner offers insightful commentary and analysis that sheds new light on the historical and religious context of the New Testament. This book is an essential resource for scholars of biblical studies and early Christianity.
This work has been recognised by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilisation. The work contains Jewish testimonies of the first century.
Each book measures 17.8 x 22 x 3cm, the set of three weighs 4.66kg.
