A Chinese Yixing clay slip-decorated 'Landscape and calligraphy' tea-pot in and its cover. China, mid 20th century. Attributed (by signature) to Xu Hantang (born 1932). Rare item preserved in perfect condition!

Finely potted in barrel form with round ear and short spout. Decorated to the interior with creamy-painted inscription in the top part and mountaineers landscape with dwellings, trees, islands, birds and people in the lower section. Band of key-fret pattern under the top-rim, above the base and between two painted sections. Inscribed to the base with six-character incised mark 徐汉棠 (Xu Hantang) and illegible small round mark to the lower part of the ear. Round cover with a knob finial, decorated with band of creamy motives between bands of key-fret pattern. The cover stamped with an oval mark and illegible small round mark.

Reference: same model was sold by one of minor auction houses, check pictures.

Provenance: property from a Dutch private collection. The tea-pot is a part of the collection of the collection of Yixing wares, others are listed same time.

Daylight pictures included.

Dimensions: height with cover – 11,3 cm; height without cover - 9,1 cm; width (with spout and ear) – 17,2 cm, diameter – 10,3 cm. Weight with cover - 358 g; without cover - 301 g.

Conditions report: excellent condition, no damages visible. Minimal wear to the painted decor. Natural patina. Check pictures for details. Strong white light tested.
