This auction presents a captivating 19th-century Japanese wooden fan, crafted as a decorative stand-alone piece.
The fan features hand-painted scenes on paper adhered to wood. One side depicts a serene landscape, while the other showcases an elegant bamboo motif.

The wooden structure of the fan, including its base and frame, is painted in a rich vermilion color, providing a striking contrast to the subtle tones of the paintings. The fan is mounted on a specially designed stand that allows it to be displayed as a freestanding decorative object, showcasing both its front and back.

Due to its age, the piece shows signs of wear consistent with its era. There is general wear and tear on the surface, numerous stains and discolorations, chipping and wear to the lacquer finish, scratches and abrasions, and tears in the paper.
