DESCRIPTION
Ramos Pinto was founded in 1880 and for several decades its history has been marked by innovation and respect for tradition. Producing and selecting the best grapes together with systematic knowledge of the terroir, Ramos Pinto is pioneering the launch of New Douro wines in Portugal and all over the world.
Today, Ramos Pinto still keeps its position as a traditional house producing high quality wines. In the quest for excellence, Ramos Pinto is still, to this day, managed as an independent organization, which enables the pursuit of its extraordinary politics of own production and continuous technical and technological research.
Ramos Pinto owns four estates in the Douro. Quinta do Bom Retiro and Quinta da Urtiga, in the heart of the region; Quinta dos Bons Ares and Quinta de Ervamoira in the Upper Douro. VINIFICATION
Made from a selection of several plots from one of the oldest vineyards in the Douro region, the Quinta do Bom Retiro. It is a wine created from many different plots. Wines are easy to match when they are young but as they grow older, the matching process becomes more difficult. Greater knowledge and fine tuning from both sides is required so that, over time, a perfect and long-lasting harmony is achieved.

TASTING NOTES
A tawny color with a yellow halo that signifies an advanced stage of maturity. This is the genuine color of a 20 year-old cask-aged wine. It has a warm red color with a slight orange tone at the bottom of the glass. A lively aroma with a velvety texture. Fruit aromas: grapefruit, apricot, almond, hazelnut and cocoa bean. Wood aromas: vanilla, old Port wine casks and phenol. Roasted aromas: cinnamon, caramel, coffee. Ethereal aromas: stearin and iodine. Smooth and dry in the mouth, complemented by a rich and generous persistence of flavor. A fine and delicious attack. The elegance of the first contact with the palate is maintained through a complex sequence of ripe and dried fruits and nuts in a fresh and liquorice-like harmony.

SERVING
Delicious as an aperitif or following an evening meal. It can also accompany chocolate, cheeses and cream-based desserts or desserts that are not overly sweet. It goes well with dry fruits and nuts, nut cakes and Swiss rolls. Serve at a temperature between 14ºC and 18ºC. Consume in moderation.

VINIFICATION
It was made with high quality wines from Quinta de Ervamoira by blending wines from harvests from different years. Young wines give it vigor and freshness, while older wines give it complexity and “breed”. The characteristic aroma and taste are the result of “art” acquired over generations.

TASTING NOTES
Orange-red color, with a greenish touch. Rounded, generous aroma, with a slight vinous and balanced touch. Fruit aromas, such as orange, apricot and plum and also vanilla and old port cask. It's the fruity kind of tawny. In the mouth, fresh fruit is still noticeable, good structure and perfect balance between fruit and alcohol, ending with a slight fresh note.

SERVING
Goes well with nut desserts and intense cheeses. It can also be enjoyed plain. Store in an upright position, in a cool, dry place, protected from light and temperature fluctuations. Serve slightly chilled at a temperature between 12ºC and 14ºC. Consume in moderation.
