Description:
•Mask Name: Signed Noh Mask 能面 of Shōjō （猩々）

(mask was carved by a student of Nagasawa Soharu 長澤草春)

Shojo 猩々 is a alcohol-loving spirit living in the sea in Japan/Chinese folktales. The mask has a lively boy’s face, like a Doji 童子, but it is all red just like a drunken man’s face.

In Noh play, it appears on the stage in an all-red auspicious and gorgeous costume wearing a long red-haired wig.
