This work depicts Kiyomasa's tiger hunt, which is often the subject of ukiyo-e prints. This subject has a long history and was painted around the middle of the Edo period.
Kuniyoshi Utagawa is a famous ukiyo-e artist for this subject. Its power had a great influence on Kuniyoshi's disciples and painting schools other than ukiyo-e artists.
This ukiyo-e work was created by an unknown ukiyo-e artist, but judging from the style of the painting, I believe he was a disciple of Yoshitoshi.
