Neagoe Dragos (1974) - Maternity

"Moternity" has the dimensions of 65 cm high, 20cm wide and 20 cm deep. The sculpture is signed on the right by hand, on the modeling, creating that uniqueness of a work.
Every sculpture starts with an idea or a concept. It can be inspired by an emotion, a personal experience, a theme or a story that you want to convey through your art. Start by asking yourself questions What do you want to communicate What does your sculpture symbolize What is the story behind the work
As I work on the sculpture, the answers emerge and the action becomes an intense and meditative experience where I explore and try different approaches to achieve the desired effect. Thus, modern art with a classical line and proportions becomes influential on the modeled object.
The sculpture is accompanied by a black lacquered pine plinth, as seen in the pictures.
This work is symbolic, meditative. I looked with emotion at many pictures depicting the war in Ukraine. One photo caught my attention in particular. of bullets. It broke my heart and I thought to myself that any mother-to-be would do the same. This work is designed as a tribute to all mothers. The work is modeled and cast in marble dust with a white portland cement binder. After I poured it into the mold, I sanded it with love, after which I applied a layer of spray imitating bronze. There are those porosities and breaths that only the bronze casting technique has. These small porosities symbolize in my work that feeling of fear and fear of a mother for her child. I hope you like this topic that I have been discussing for a long time, since my wife gave birth to the 3 beautiful girls I have.
I am a licensed sculptor at the University of Art in Bucharest, with a master's degree. I have exhibited a lot, in various professional art galleries in Romania. I have created several public monuments, the last one being inaugurated in 2023. The proof is the many radio interviews, televisions and specialized magazines. Prestigious critics have spoken about the uniqueness of my works. I am concerned with the symbiosis between old and new, between the proportions and balances of classic volumes with my inner lives. I am concerned with the plastic expression of the volume, but also with a unitary concept of the ensemble. I remain anchored in the traditional way of looking at art, implicitly sculpture. Art for me is a way of life and without it my existence has no purpose on this earth. My whole universe revolves between transforming the living (everything that is alive, organic ) in the language of sculpture, creating emotions, experiences and feelings. Nothing is free or only to be liked. I would like my art to wake up your spirits in flames, to feel joy. To disappear hate and suffering. As a conclusion, "sculpture for me is a special state of matter".
