A stunning b-folio rescued from what was once a fine quality but dis-bound and water damaged Qur'an of Indian origin, dated 1751.

The folios are sprinkled with gold and consists of fine naskh script, separated by numerous 'Surah' headings in gold cloud with white ornamental Thuluth script within. The folios are from the end Chapters of the Qur'an, where the Chapters are short. The right folio contains Chapters 110 An-Nasr (The Ultimate Help), 111 Al-Masad (The Palm-Fibre Rope) and 112 Al-Ikhlas (Purity of Faith). The left folio contains the final two Chapters of the Qur'an, Chapters 113 Al-Falaq (The Daybreak) and 114 An-Nas (Humankind). It is a wonderful bi-folio and would grace any collection or home.

The lines of naskh script are separated by broken clouds of gold (see image 3) with the breaks supporting devotional markings in red. The verse markings, 'aya', are a simple gold circle with a black line circumference with no sub-division radial marking. The scriptures are framed by an inner gold frame line and thicker outer gold frame line. Outside this is a wonderful arabesque design of gold vine leaves surrounding the scripture.

Each page is the size described and being 'miniature' it would indicate that this would most likely have been a travelling companion of a devotee. As the quality is so fine it may have belonged to an important person.

Many thanks for your feedback. I do understand your point regarding the cutting of it: sometimes the pages are so badly damaged around the edges that cutting the edges seems the sensible thing to do for mounting purposes. We do not intend any disrespect at all and apologise if this has offended.

Lovely 19th century manuscript miniature that arrived early, and nicely mounted with a bibliographical note. A very fine seller that I return to bid and buy from often. Thank you.

Item as described. Quick dispatch. Good communication. Couldn't be any happier. (Have to pay taxes and customs now - but that was clearly stated, foreseeable and not the sellers fault. Damned Brexit!)

Thanks so much for this feedback. Yes - damned Brexit. All the fault of in-fighting in the UK Govt and a mistaken belief that a vote would make it all go away! It has caused small business and private individuals a good deal of unnecessary trouble.

Exceptional seller, fine manuscript leaves, securely packed and shipped promptly. Much appreciated. Thanks very much.
