Francisco Bravo Cabrera (BODO V.) - Angela
“Angela” is from the artists “psychedelic-expressionist” period which began in the late 1990’s and extended to his works of 2008.
The painting, in truth, depicts two “Angelas”, one in grey, with a hammer and sickle tattooed on her breast, representing her previous life suffering communist tyranny, and the other one, the main one, in yellow, symbolic of a new life, a life in the light of freedom.
The painting thus also tells a story and holds many symbols. The strong black line separates the colours and images of the composition, stating strong differences and the vivid colours provide that crucial link to expressionism so cleverly created by Francisco Bravo Cabrera.
Francisco is recognised internationally for having exhibited in Europe, Asia and America. He has a wide following and many of his paintings hang in collections worldwide. He also writes and lectures on art and on art history, mostly through his blog VALENCIARTIST (www.paintinginvalencia.com)
“Angela” was one of the paintings exhibited in October 2023 during his solo exhibition at the “Sala de Exposiciones” in the city of Valencia, Spain. You will see a picture of Francisco in front of his paintings among the pictures provided. This picture was taken during the preparation phase of the exhibition space.
Paints and the canvas used are of exceptional quality. This is a 2005 painting and it looks as if it has been completed just recently. It is in excellent condition. One of the very unique paintings of the artist.
