You are bidding on a very fine and rare 4/4 violin after Stradivari, labeled Gajetanus Sgarabotto Vicentinus fecit Parmae anno Domini 1935. The instrument is in ready to play condition with no cracks or repairs.
The violin has an excellent straight high grained spruce of the top and two pieces back of strongly flamed maple with matched sides and scroll. The purfling is professionally executed and the edges are masterfully done. Good ebony set up, master made bridge, Dominant strings. The whole length of the violin is 585 mm and the back 354 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 165 mm; middle bouts: 112 mm; lower bouts: 207 mm. The sound of this instrument is of a charming character, rich, warm, sweet and beautiful colors, depth and great carrying power.
