An Antique Georgian Sterling Silver set of 4 large candlesticks, in a Neoclassical style having square bases with bead borders, hand-chased swags and satyr head motifs and on one side a cartouche with crest & crown. The columns in a bound palm-tree style with frond capitals, and removable round nozzles.
A rare opportunity to find a set of 4 candlesticks of this age.

Crested on the base and the scones: Quid clarius astris, what means "What is brighter than the stars?". It comes from the Baillie Clan.

Made in Sheffield (Plate workers, Union Street), 1784 (240 years old)

The dimensions of this fine set of hand-made antique silver candlesticks are:
Length 32 cm (12.6 inch)
Wide at base 12.5 x 12.5 cm (4.92 inch x 4.92 inch)
Approx. 875 + 822 + 993 + 858 = 3548 grams (weighted for stability) (scones weigh 139 grams)

Condition: Very good condition, especially considering it's age of 240 years old. Old repair in the top middle of the candlestick. Some very tiny holes. No hallmarks on two scones. The scones have some usermarks.
