A Beautiful Female Body
Grantner Jenő Munkácsy Award-winning sculptor. He studied art at the Applied Arts Department between 1922-1929, then in 1930 he completed the one-year course at the Academy of Fine Arts under István Szentgyörgyi in the sculpture department. He has been regularly participating in exhibitions since 1928. In 1934-35 he went on a study trip to Rome as a scholarship holder. In the early 1930s he won awards at numerous exhibitions and sculpture competitions. He also participated in foreign exhibitions until 1944 (Rome, Venice). In 1939 he received the Klebelsberg Prize of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and in 1942 the Ferencz József Prize. After 1945 he also won awards at numerous sculpture competitions.
He practiced almost all genres of sculpture, creating monumental sculptures, small sculptures, and building sculptures.
His works were characterized by solid plastic knowledge, sophisticated rhythmic solutions, and a dynamic, coherent representation of the complex movements of the human body.
