Mooie st. Michael icon! Prachtige kleuren ook! Kwam heel zorgvuldig verpakt hier aan. Ben hier erg blij mee!

Nativity of Christ - Bulgarian icon, completely hand-painted on wood.
The Nativity of Christ is a celebration of the great renewal of the world, a day of salvation and universal joy forever. From the earliest times, the Church glorified God both in hymns and in paintings. Icon veneration developed in parallel with the complex liturgy and the spread of the faith. In the Greco-Roman world, fine art was held in special esteem. In the middle of the 3rd c. sl. R. Hr. Saint Gregory of Neocaesaria in his speech on the feast of the Nativity of Christ says, expressing the opinion of his contemporaries: "People, considering the eyes as more faithful witnesses than the ears, believe what they see and doubt what they do not see. "
The greatest event - the coming to earth of the Son of God in the Bethlehem cave, the Church solemnly presents in a majestic composition, the main features of which were created until the 6-7th century and developed until the 17th century. It is well known: in the center - a cave in which the Baby is lying in a manger, next to Him - the Mother of God, there are also animals - an ox and a donkey, and above the cave - a star. Around the cave there are additional scenes: the reverently focused Joseph, the wise men with the gifts, shepherds and angels praising the Lord.
