Byzantine/Medieval double sided hinged reliquary bronze cross pendant know as enkolopion circa 10-12th century AD.
The cross is decorated in high relief with stylised images typical of Christian iconography in the period.
Obverse depicting virgin and child.
Reverse depicting 4 saints to each corner of the crucifix.
Good condition with good metal.
There is a barrel-shaped suspension loop at the top and a hinged base at the bottom, with pins still intact in both.
UK provenance from a 1970 private collection.
