Extremely sought-after single malt here! This is the annual version of 12 year old Cask Strength from the Springbank distillery in Campbeltown. This edition is drawn from a selection of 70% bourbon and 30% sherry casks and bottled at a substantial 57.2% ABV.
Tasting notes:
Nose: This year's 12-year-old Cask Strength opens with notes of marzipan, smoked meats and a smokiness similar to burnt matches.
Palate: The smoky, earthy note continues on the palate and a hazelnut is introduced into notes of pistachios. Notes of caramelised brown sugar, plums and custard complete this dram.
Finish: A hint of sea salt emerges in the finish along with notes of red apple peel.
