This artistic 1 Oz Silver coin celebrates one of Van Gogh's most famous paintings: Wheatfield With Crows. The powerful color combinations in this painting, like the blue sky contrasting with the yellow-orange wheat, as well as the red of the path intensified by the green bands of grass, express the dual nature of Van Gogh's feelings: concern and a cool calm. The coin was made using modern decoration techniques, it has a selective gilding, and comes in a case, along with the Certificate of Authenticity. Limited mintage of only 999 pieces worldwide.
The reverse of the coin features the painting "Wheatfield With Crows", completed in July 1880 and closely associated with van Gogh's own life. The menacing sky, the crows and the dead-end path are said to refer to the end of his life approaching. The obverse of the coin features the Coat of Arms of Niue and the inscriptions: "2023" – the year of issue, "1 DOLLAR" – the face value and "Ag 999 1 oz" - the purity of Silver and its weight.
