Charming antique wooden mortar & pestle.
A lovely shaped, 19th century, wooden mortar and pestle. Both pieces are well turned from woods and the shapes of both are quite delightful. The mortar bowl has a small split to the lower part, the set is complete and original with no traces of reparations. This is a piece full of character. The pestle and the mortar bowl are made of turned wood, perhaps applewood, olivewood or a fruitwood. The mortar is 15 mm thick. A staple accessory in French kitchens, particularly for preparing pistou (like pesto). This is a fantastic historian must have. It would be a lovely piece to display on the kitchen counter for an instant touch of French country.
