Magnificent Art Nouveau figurine group depicting Bacchus God with two Bacchantes, originally titled “Storming Bacchantes”, creation of the famous artist Albert Caasmann (1886 - 1968) for Rosenthal Porcelain Manufaktur - Selb Bavaria Art Department, in excellent condition.
Albert Caasmann designed the figurine “Storming Bacchantes” in 1912, as find reference in Niecol vol 2, p 63; Fischer 127 #203 and Fischer 136 #96.
Bacchus god, the Roman deity of wine, fertility, and revelry, boasts a rich and complex history that spans millennia. The famous sculptor A. Caasmann modeled figurines based on his own designs for the porcelain manufacturer Rosenthal AG in Selb, starting 1912. His works for the company are exhibited in the Porzellanikon Rosenthal Museum.
It is in excellent condition , marked on the back of the base with Rosenthal 1915 specific year mark, impressed name of A. Caasmann on the side of the base, slightly signs of wear, NO chips, NO cracks and NO repairs, please see the pictures as they are part of description.
