This type of jug manufactured in the Rhine stoneware area around the city of Cologne in the 16th to 19th centuries.
our jug is made round late 19th C.
Shape: pear
Color: Brown
According to another explanation, it would be an act of revenge against the Cologne potters, who were driven out of the city in the 16th century because of the poisonous gas that was released during their firing process. Many potters then moved to Frechen.
In England, this jars have been called bellarmines since the 17th century.
Dimensions: 31 cm H x 20 cm diameter body x 10 cm diameter base
three signs/markings in straight lines from top to bottom, and another distinctive sign immediately adjacent to the last sign
Weight: 2400 grams
Condition; good condition - the deformation waves come from manufacturing
