The artisanal quarries in basalts near Sidi Rahal has become famous over the last years for producing exceptional chalcedony and amethyst geodes.
Here is a beautiful geode featuring a boxwork (after fluorite or apophyllite?) of quartz, here and there stained with vivid red hematoid colours oxides. Notice also some slightly purplish hues with amethyst areas and parallel growth calcite crystals of yellow colour, that make for a texture contrast with quartz.
A beautiful and unique geode, a natural art of work, carefully selected from the recent finds.
