Blue fluorite from Auvergne is unique: there are other blue fluorite localities in France and around the globe but this specific shade of blue, intense and without color mixing, only belongs to Auvergne.
Here is a mesmerizing colourful blue fluorite from La Barre mine in Auvergne!
One of the very best specimens pulled out from the pocket, this specimen features a cluster of big cubes (the main one is 5.0 cm large) that exhibit a mesmerizing deep ocean blue colour zone overgrowing an inner yellow core.
Some of the edges and corners show natural damages, which is typical from the discovery as the deep blue fluorite zone in this mine is cut by a fault that reactivated late, after the blue fluorite pocket formation: hence, you can see that the cleavages and denting along the corners are all mat and slightly recrystallized, sometimes with a small growth of late generation purple fluorite.
This is definitely a very impressive and sizeable blue fluorite specimen that attracts immediately the eye in a showcase, especially when softly backlit!
