A set of 3 Safari Chairs designed by Kaare Klint (1888-1954) for Rud Rasmussen, Denmark, with series number KK47000
Klint's Safari Chair is a refinement of the chairs brought on an African safari by an American cinematographer and his wife. They were most likely based on Indian Roorkhee Chairs used by the British military – possibly the first examples of self-assembled furniture. The original featured more complex structure, and Klint focused on simplifying, clarifying and refining the lounge chair's composition, exhibiting his final Safari Chair design in 1933 at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers' Guild Exhibition
These pieces in leather are in excellent conditions, still with the original cushions with labels as seen in the photos.
The pick-up location is near Nijmegen, the Netherlands (delivery options can be discussed with the successful bidder).
