Today, you're bidding on an original sculpture from the Djenné region in Mali. This statue is an ancestral woman with a small cup, kneeling on the floor. It has a height of about 18 cm.
It has received particular attention to detail by a Malian craftsman.
I bought it during my long past journeys to Mali. It has always been stored inside a glass showcase.
***MATERIAL: African bronze. Lost-wax casting process, brown patina.
***PROVENANCE: Private collection, originally from the Djenné region, in Mali (collected in situ).
***SPECS: 18 cm height, 8 cm width. About 810 g.
