Russian, hand-painted icon of the Holy Mother of God - Vsesatsaritsa.
Period - the end of the 20th century.
Condition - Good for the age of the item.
The miraculous icon of the Mother of God "Vsetsaritsa" (in Greek - "Pantanasa") is located in the Vatopedo Cathedral in Sveta Gora in Greece to the left of the royal gate. This small icon was painted in the 17th century and according to legend was blessed by Joseph Hesychast for his disciples.
The icon depicts the Mother of God in a red mantle sitting on the royal throne. In her arms sat the baby with a scroll in one hand. With her right hand, the Mother of God caught Jesus, showing how the king's son would be the savior of all people. There are two angels in the background.
According to ancient monastic tradition, a young man once approached the icon and began to mutter something incomprehensible. Suddenly, a miraculous light shone from the face of the Virgin Mary, an invisible force threw the young man and he fell to the ground. He stood up and fled in fear to the elders and monks and tearfully confessed to them that he had led a vicious life full of magic, came to the monastery to try his magic on the holy icons. The holy miracle that happened in front of the icon turned the young man away from witchcraft and led him on the path of repentance and pious life. The miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary "Vsetsaritsa" is revered both on the Holy Mountain and far beyond its borders. The icon's name indicates the special and all-encompassing power it possesses. Demonstrating her miraculous power against the magic spell for the first time, the All-Queen has the grace to heal the sick.
The Archangels Michael and Gabriel can be seen on either side of the Virgin.
