The memoirs of an explorer" written by A Henry Savage-Landor....This is the first US edition published by Frederick A Stokes, New York in 1924. This memoir tells of the extraordinary traveller and explorer, Savage-Landor, who often, without much in the way of specialist equipment, would tackle some of the world's most inhospitable terrains and peoples. He is best known for his excursions to Korea, Nepal, China, Tibet, South America and Africa. Vol I covers from his birth to 1897 and Vol II covers from the publication of Across Coveted Lands in 1902 and his trip to the Philippines in 1904 to December 1923, a year before his death. There are 28 b/w plates and 6 maps across the two volumes.
Books in good to very good condition. Navy hardboards with a light green illustration of the world in 2 globes and gilt title lettering to the front boards. Light green (faded) lettering to the spines. Spines faded. Boards in very good condition. Pages clean and firm throughout. Gilt top edge. Vol I - 387 pages, Vol II - 437 pages including index. SCARCE. Rare ti find complete in this beautiful condition!!!
