A Rare George Wintle Spoon, with an eye catching large bowl, measuring 8.5 cm by 5 cm, 23 cm in length, weighing a heavy 67 grams. Strong body, nice curvature, very fine tailpiece, handle has got nicely engraved lettering.

George Wintle was renown as a spoon maker and entered approximately 11 marks over his career starting on the 2nd January 1787 as a plate-worker. The marks were entered up to around 1823. On the 17th February 1813, he was accused of hallmark forgery although he was found not guilty.
