Le Retour à la Raison (Return to Reason) is a 1923 film directed by Man Ray. It consists of animated textures, Rayographs and the torso of Kiki of Montparnasse. Short film full of formal analogies and visual games not always easy to decode and that, even today, continues to provoke controversy. Return to reason, contrary to its title, loses us in the pure abstraction of audiovisual poetics, a remarkable experiment impossible to define. Experimental film, with shapes and shadows moving on a black background; a body bathed in light contrasts; intense blacks and whites. One of the first Dadaist short films.
