A selection of five cast bronze arrowheads, varying in shape and size, but all featuring a triangular blade, with three arrowheads having a raised central midrib and two featuring a flattened central midrib. Two of the arrowheads show a wider, barbed triangular blade and short tangs. The largest arrowhead features a longer tang, while the last two have a shorter, flattened tang. The pieces are covered in a beautiful patina and earthly encrustations. Signs of wear to all of the blades, including chipped barbs and shoulders, as well as chips to the edge of the blade.
Luristan bronze comes from the Lorestan Province, renowned in antiquity for its sophisticated metal working techniques. Luristan weapons, such as these nice examples, would have been used in everyday life but also buried together with the deceased. Excavated items from this region often include weapons, tools, and finials, as well as small amulets and fittings. Ornamental objects are also frequently found, such as pins and bracelets. Archaeological evidence suggests that the Luristan bronze objects often served ceremonial functions given their funerary contexts.
