In Japanese Buddhism, Senju Kannon Bosatsu, or Thousand-Armed Kwan Yin, is venerated for embodying compassion and mercy, believed to alleviate the suffering of all beings. The multiple faces symbolize the Bodhisattva's ability to perceive the needs of countless sentient beings, while the thousand arms (originally depicted on this statue, now mostly missing) signify the readiness to offer help and protection. This statue, crafted during the Meiji era, features the Bodhisattva in a standing pose on a lotus pedestal. Despite the absence of many of the original arms and age-related wear, including discoloration, lacquer loss, dust, surface deterioration, and other signs of age, the serene expression and intricate details still capture the essence of this revered figure.
