【Product details】

This exquisite Edo or Meiji period screen features a captivating Noh play scene painted on paper, beautifully framed in wood. The artwork, rich in cultural heritage, is adorned with the signature and seal of the artist Soun, located in the lower right corner.

Noh is a traditional Japanese performing art, designated as an Important Intangible Cultural Property and registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Encompassing both Noh and Kyogen, it is an art form with a history of approximately 700 years.

The screen exhibits signs of age and wear, including numerous cracks on the surface, paint chipping, tears, holes, peeling paper, and insect damage. The wooden frame also shows scratches, scuffs, and chips. Please examine the photos carefully to assess the condition.
