KORIN OGATA ( 1658-1716) - Secret Pictures Collection - Limited edition with Slipcase - Fine Copy - 1995

Korin Ogata ( 1658-1716) , engraver and painter , was surely the best talentuous painter in Japan at the end of 17th, begining of 18th; he influenced all the best known painters like Hokusai or Utamaro.
A lot of his works are with Gold or Ocher background ( the Iris Screen , well-known all over the world, 1708)
This collection is directed by Kazuhiko Fukuda, one of the best specialist of Shunga Art.
A lot of commentaries on all the differents works presented in the book ( I have put one translation from archives which explains a little bit the sense of Shunga )
At the begining, unknown artists from 17th ( Tosa's School) , after Ogata or Torii Kiyoshi and at the end , the famous paintings ( unsigned) , but we know they are from Keiga Kawahara ( 1786-1860) with European models
A lot of these paintings are in Leiden Museum and also in St- Petersbourg.
Hardback with slipcase ( larger than high : 30,5 x 23 cm ) 185 pages, released in 1995, stayed excellent, few opened.
