This rare original old antique print originally was published in the book: ‘Gedenkweerdige Brasiliaense Zee en Lantreize …’ by Johan Nieuhof, published by Jacob van Meurs, Amsterdam, 1682.
This English edition is from the 1732 edition of ´A collection of voyages and travels,...´ by Awnsham & John Churchill.
Nieuhof (1618-1672) was a Dutch traveler who wrote about his journeys to Brazil, China and India. He was an authoritative Western writer on China and Asia in general.
