Japanese traditional hand carved wooden Noh mask of Hakushikijō白式尉/Okina翁 with outstanding workmanship and meticulous details, made in Heisei.23(2011). A mask of a smiling old man. It is used in the Okina-mai dance, which celebrates good fortune such as bountiful harvests and the fulfillment of wishes. The origins of the Okina-mai dance date back to the end of the Heian period, and it is considered to be the source of the development of Noh. The technique of separating the top and bottom half of the mouth and connecting them with string was influenced by Bugaku masks.
