Thé museum use to édités similar album they own. Fernand Grébert (1886-1956) was a good Friend of professor Albert schweitzer He was born on June 1, 1886 in Schiltigheim, near Strasbourg. It was in Reims that Fernand Grébert was consecrated pastor of the Evangelical Missions of Paris, 1919 first work Au Gabon, published by the Société des Missions Evangéliques de Paris in 1922. On April 24, 1913, having barely been consecrated a pastor, Fernand Grébert embarked in Bordeaux aboard the boat “L'Afrique” for Gabon, a recently created African territory, previously attached to the French Congo. Grébert joined the mission of Samkita, above Lambaréné, a mission led by Pastor Edouard Rambaud. He became friends with Doctor Albert Schweizer occupying the nearby mission. In 1915, Grébert was appointed head of the Talagouga mission station, located on the middle course of the Ogooué River. he studies African art, ethnic groups in particular the Fangs In 1932 Fernand Grébert had to leave Gabon permanently for health reasons and put an end to his career as a missionary in Africa: “The climate being especially debilitating, we, although “tough guys”, were only able to hold on thanks to the advice and care of Dr. Schweitzer.” Grébert and his family then settled near Geneva but continued to work for the Swiss and French Protestant missions until 1945, notably organizing numerous missionary exhibitions on equatorial Africa. He died in Geneva on June 6, 1956, aged 70.

Fernand Grébert (1886-1956) was a good Friend of professor Albert schweitzer
