Set of Authentic Oshima Tsumugi Silk Haori and Kimono
This set features an authentic Oshima Tsumugi silk haori and kimono, complete with a certificate proving its authenticity as Oshima Tsumugi.
The lining of the haori depicts a dragon.
Oshima Tsumugi is a traditional textile produced in the Amami Islands in the southern part of Kagoshima Prefecture. It is handwoven using a pre-dyeing technique that dyes the threads before weaving. This intricate process results in Oshima Tsumugi, a traditional craft recognized as "Authentic Oshima Tsumugi." Known for its precise dyeing and weaving techniques, it is one of Japan's most esteemed silk fabrics.
The fabric pattern is called 80 Kikkou-gasuri, representing a tortoise shell with hexagonal shapes. It is considered an auspicious pattern, believed to bring happiness in all six directions. The 80 Kikkou pattern refers to a fabric where 80 hexagons are aligned on a standard width (about 38 cm).
Kimonos made from authentic Oshima Tsumugi boast an elegant sheen, flexibility, and lightness. They are also wrinkle-resistant, providing exceptional comfort and a pleasant feel against the skin.
This set has been kept in an unworn condition, with no stains or dirt.
