◆Toshusai Sharaku 東洲斎写楽 1794-95 Size: 40×26 cm Of the more than 140 paintings he produced during his mere 10 months of activity, the first 28 large head paintings are representative of Sharaku's work, especially the first 28 that depict only the upper half of the body against a black mica (kira) background. This is the famous "Ichikawa Ebizo" among the Sharaku. Very wonderful work of art. There is a seal in the picture. Sharaku was produced by the publisher Tsutaya Shigesaburo 蔦屋重三郎, a hit maker in Edo. Publisher: Chuo Koron Bijutsu Mokuhan 中央公論美術木版 There is a stamp of the printing company "Chuo Koron Bijutsu Mokuhan" on the back of the print.
