Indus Valley Pottery Vessels (3)
Circa 3rd millennium BC
This group of three pottery vessels includes a small jar with a biconical profile, a small cup with a bulbous lower body and flat base, and a small conical-shaped bowl.
The Indus Valley, a historical civilization that thrived from approximately 3300 BC to 1300 BC, was situated in the northwestern regions of South Asia, encompassing parts of present-day Pakistan and northwest India. Cities such as Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro were centres of trade, showcasing a standardized system of weights and measures. The significance of the Indus Valley lies in its urban achievements, marked by well-planned cities with advanced drainage systems and multi-storied buildings.
