Original woodblock print from Tsukioka Kogyo (1869 - 1927) from the series "Noga taikan" (A collection of Noh theatre plays) 1930's. Album holes on the right side next to the image.
The print measures 25,1 cm x 37,5 cm. The colors are still very bright after almost 90 years.
Nōga Taikan was published in Tokyo between 1925 and 1930. Each print represents a scene from a Noh play similar to how it appeared on stage.
Kōgyo Tsukioka (April 18, 1869 – February 25, 1927) was a Japanese artist of the Meiji period. He was a student and adopted son of Tsukioka Yoshitoshi, and also studied with Ogata Gekko. For most of his career he made pictures of Japanese noh theatre.
