This is a nice and rare US / RAF / Italian / German (and other) aircraft recognition booklet for identification of aircraft, as used by pilots, airgunners, etc! It is full of beautiful plates of the various German aircraft, etc. This auction is for a very interesting original publication of the U.S. War Department (FM 30-30), AIRCRAFT RECOGNITION PICTORIAL MANUAL , produced by the Training Division of the Bureau of Aeronautics, Navy Department, 1943. This formerly "Restricted" manual was used to train soldiers during WWII to quickly identify aircraft by sight so as to distinguish friend from foe and to recognize the exact type of plane. Each aircraft are described and pictured from every angle, including silhouettes. Interesting facts are also given for each plane including evaluations and histories. The book also contains a comprehensive silhouette chart, a glossary and other relevant information about the various aircraft. The manual measures 6" x 11" and has many pages, i would estimate 100 at least. It is soft-bound, string-tied.
Fantastic manual for your aircraft collection, you will not find this one again easily!
