In this lot we offer a set of antique Suzuribako硯箱 and Bunko文庫 with nashiji lacquer, gold maki-e designs and mother of pearl inlay in excellent workmanship. One pretty phoenix standing on a Sycamore Tree on the Suzuribako lid and one phoenix was flying above the sycamore tree on the Bunko lid, beautiful chrysanthemum were designed on the reverse of the lids, these beautiful patterns was completed by gold maki-e technique and also inlaid with colorful mother of pearl. The whole surface of the two boxes are coated with nashiji lacquer, a traditional Japanese finish that creates a thick gold dust effect over the entire surface. This finish offers a charming contrast to the glossy black exterior. The Suzuribako with a fitted tray housing an inkstone 硯 (suzuri), a high-quality water dropper水滴 (suiteki) in a house shape.
