This book is an account of Walter Tyndale's travels through Egypt and the great love he has for the people and his surroundings whilst on that journey. The illustrations are also by Walter Tyndale (Walter Frederick Roofe Tyndale (1855-1943) was an English watercolour painter of landscapes, architecture and street scenes, book illustrator and travel writer).

First edition, and fascinating volume for collectors, and for those interested in Ancient Egyptians, and Egyptology. The book is wonderfully illustrated with tipped in tissue-guarded frontispiece depicting the Sphinx by Moonlight, coloured title page, and 25 fine tissue-guarded colour plates mounted and tipped in to heavyweight leaves with printed borders.
Published by Hodder and Stoughton, London, New York, Toronto, 1912. Handsomely bound in publisher's brick red cloth boards, with elaborate gilt Egyptian design, and gilt Arabic words of ‘Tawhid, Shahada’ on upper board, and spine. Illustrated endpapers. Top page edges gilt.

Condition
The book is beautifully bound, designed and illustrated. External covers in nice shape, with light wear to boards’ corners, and head and tail of spine. Internally the book is in good+ condition. Marks of stickers on inside front cover page and the first front free endpaper page, and a library stamp on the back side of the title page. One plate is missing at page 64. All pages are tightly held at the gutter. Inner hinges are very good. Pages are clean with occasional faded marks on the margin of few pages. The text is fresh and plates are bright (Please see pictures).
