Two beautiful Chinese sculptures made of natural exotic red/black wood (dense and heavy wood) probably dates from the Republic of China period.
The eyes and teeth are inlaid and still present. It's very expressive. The craftsman's work was carried out with the greatest care. A beautiful wooden patina. The statue's depicts deity Shou Lao (Chinese God of Longevity) and a Fisherman.
Shou Lao has a protruding forehead which represents wisdom. He's holding a large staff and branches with peaches. Shou Lao has a child holding onto him on his other side who's holding or offering a fish (possibly represents abundance of children)

Fisherman H 16 x D 8 x W 6.5 cm weigth: 128 gram.
