In this lot we offer a set of refined antique Suzuribako硯箱 and Bunko文庫 with nashiji lacquer and gold maki-e designs by excellent workmanship.
The outer surface of the Suzuribako show a fine black-lacquered lid decorated with pretty maki-e patterns for beautiful phoenix and Chinese parasol tree. These patterns were created with great precision and detail, capturing the beauty of the phoenix and plants in every nuance.
The interior and the bottom of the Suzuribako are coated with nashiji lacquer, a traditional Japanese finish that creates a thick gold dust effect over the entire surface. This finish offers a charming contrast to the glossy black exterior.
The Suzuribako with one fitted tray housing an inkstone 硯(suzuri), a high-quality water dropper水滴 (suiteki) in a bamboo shape.
Dimensions for Suzuribako: 24 x 21.5 x 5 cm
Dimensions for Bunko: 39 x 30 x 14.5 cm
Good condition, there are stains, scratches and wear off from aging and using, please also take a look at the listed photos.
