This fine example of a Decanter Set is made in the Art-Deco period around 1930 by the famous Moser glass factory in Karlovy Vary, Czechoslovakia. The set consists of a decanter with stopper and six liquor-glasses, made in the style of Josef Hoffmann. The decanter has been cleverly formed in the shape of a bag which has been pulled together at the neck. The faceted surfaces give a clear indication of the artist’s intention when working on his design. The stopper rises majestically out of the neck of the decanter and also has style-full faceted panels depicting the folds in the (paper) bag. The six liquor-glasses have been faceted into eight, differently shaped panels on a six-panel base. The Moser factory used a colour pallet unique to their own products. This decanter set is made in the lemon-yellow colour “ELDOR” which, according to Moser (book “Moser Artistic Glass”) is “one of the most beautiful glass colours ever produced”. The colour Eldor is introduced into their range of products in 1921 and was used throughout the Art-Deco period well into the 1930’s. This set is an authentic product from this period.
The Moser company in Karlovy Vary is well known for their high quality glassware and exceptional craftsmanship. This liquors-set was made with the intention to enjoy a liquor, or other strong drink, served surprisingly from a beautiful decanter, shaped like a bag. It will be an elegant addition to the cocktail cabinet or just to a collection, and will certainly be a regular talking point!
The set weighs approximately 2350 grams inclusive six glasses.
The colour and brilliance are amazing and the set is in MINT CONDITION.
