Old fine 4/4 violin, labeled Rocca Enrico fu Giuseppe premiato alle esposizioni Milano 1881 Arezzo 1882 Torino 1884 Bologna 1888 Palermo 1892 Genova 2 Medaglie 1892-93 Fecit in Genova anno Domini 1903.
The instrument is in good ready to play condition with some small not visible repaired cracks, grafted scroll, new ebony set up, new bridge and new strings.
LOB measures 358 mm. The total length of the violin is 593 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 162 mm; middle bouts: 110 mm; lower bouts: 204 mm. The top is a strong alpine spruce, straight and finely grained. The two pieces back is a strongly flamed maple with matched sides, neck and scroll. The purfling is professionally executed, the edges are masterfully done. The violin is in wonderful ready to play condition with an amazing powerful, sweet, warm and rich sound.
