'Tachibana Morikuni, also known by the pseudonym Tachibana Yūzei [ 1 ] (橘守国? ; 1679 – 1748 ), was an Osaka based Japanese painter and printmaker , one of the most important and prolific representatives of the Kamigata artistic area. He was a pupil of Tsuruzawa Tanzen and followed the style of the Kanō school. He devoted himself successfully to both painting and engraving and book illustration. A theme loved by Tachibana was the illustration of ancient legends, which he realized with expressive and lively figures.'
